In November, 1996, under the provisions of the decree by the Department of Agricultural Resources published in the Official Gazette under No. 280, dated November 11,1996, a law was passed to create the "Colli di Rimini" Protected Appellation of Origin. On December 22, 1999, the Multisectoral Council of this Appellation is established at the Rimini Chamber of Commerce.
Attaining this objective is probably the most significant achievement ever for the grape-growing and wine-production industry in the region of Rimini. In fact, this new designation, if properly used by wine producers, with the aid of the DOC inspection and promotion bodies foreseen by the regulations in force, is an important identification and qualification tool for local wine-production. It was possible to achieve this objective due to the years-long work of wine technicians, producers and their representatives, officials and employees in the current Rimini Agricultural Service, and due to the will-power and efforts of each and every economic-political agents in the industry.
