THE SPREAD OF CULTIVATION

In the Province of Rimini vine is mainly found on the hills and foothill areas and, to a lesser extend, in the plains.

There are 4001 vine-growing companies in the administrative district, which equals to 62.54% of the total (6,503); the average UAS cultivated with vines per company is 0.64 ha, the UAS cultivated with vines accounts for 12.4% of the total UAS.

In order to highlight the peculiarity of vineyarding in the province of Rimini and how much it is widespread, it is interesting to compare these data with those belonging to the whole Region of Emilia Romagna indicated in the 2000 census - Table D.

Table D
average UAS cultivated with vines per company (hectares) Vine-growing companies out of total companies - % UAS cultivated with vines out of total UAS - %
Rimini 0,64 62,54% 11,09
Region 1,37 40,8% 5,4

It should be noted that the percentage of both the vine-growing companies and the UAS cultivated with vines are very high when compared to the total. This clearly shows how vineyarding has spread over the territory.
