

There is little information available on the origin of this vine.
It was first mentioned by Count Nuvolone, director of Società Agraria di Torino back in 1799.
Its place of origin nevertheless is undoubtedly Monferrato.
This vine is mostly grown in Piedmont and part of Lombardy.
It is one of the Italian vines that has gained a significant position in California and Argentina.
Barbera, given the best growing conditions, produces excellent red wines, fresh, exuberant, perfumed and aggressive when young.
After certain aging, they become fine, dry and round.
A pleasurable wine, almost a «Rosso estivo» (a red wine for summer) when young due to its sourish freshness.
Best served cool with rustida, a dish of just fished blue fish.
Barbera has long been grown in small areas along Rimini hills. Already in 1885, Barbera wines produced in our area participated in wine contests.
It has proven to be a rustic but productive vine, even it has to be assigned the best locations since its bunches may rot.
